Friends of the Williford Library will hold a fundraising event May 20, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., on the property of the Williford Library located on Highway 63 south of Hardy.

According to Sheila Matheny, a volunteer for the Williford Library, the event will feature a wide varity of items which will be for sale.

“We are having a fundraiser to benefit the Williford Library and it will consist of the sale of books, movies, plants that have been donated from various businesses around town and baked goods,” Matheny said. “The funds are going to help pay for lawn care and other needs the library may have.”

Now that restrictions have been lifted, Matheny said the volunteers of the library hope the event will help draw patrons back to the library and that all of the services the facility has to offer will be utilized by the public more frequently.

“We are also trying to promote getting the public back in the library. A lot of people think it is located in town there in Williford, but it’s not, it’s on the highway and is easy to access,” Matheny said.

The library, located at 1606 US-63 is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend the event on May 20.
