A Fulton County man is facing charges in Fulton County after a call to dispatch July 4 just after 4 a.m.
According to the affidavit for 43-year-old Phillip Hollis authorities were dispatched to North Pine Street in Salem for a report made by Hollis that he had been stabbed by a Hispanic male wearing a checkered patterned t-shirt.
When authorities arrived on scene, they met Hollis who had bloodshot eyes and authorities stated smelled of intoxicants.
Hollis stated he was checking his mail, when the Hispanic male approached him and cut him with a knife.
Hollis had a wound on his hand consistent with a knife or very sharp object but refused medical care and stated the subject had continued on Pine Street on foot.
Authorities searched the area for a subject and informed Hollis to make contact if the subject was seen again.
A couple hours later, Hollis began calling 911 stating he needed an officer, but would then hang up each time, except for the final time when the line remained open and dispatchers could hear a female and Hollis arguing about the female having stabbed Hollis. The conversation also contained the topic of using narcotics.
When officers arrived on scene, Hollis stated he and the female had gotten into an argument over his truck keys and that the female had cut him with the knife and he had lied about the Hispanic male.
Hollis was placed under arrest for filing a false police report about the stabbing at which time he became very agitated.
While attempting to place Hollis in restraints, officers noticed a rifle lying in the seat of Hollis’ truck next to where Hollis was standing.
After getting Hollis under control, he was placed in the back of a patrol unit.
Authorities then turned their attentions to the female occupant of the home who stated Hollis had been in and out of the house acting strangely all night and had cut himself somehow. She also noted Hollis had shot a hole in her home and showed the officers the entry and exit point of the bullet.
A juvenile female was in the home and stated she was home when Hollis shot their house. The rifle was retrieved from Hollis’ truck and found to contain a partially loaded magazine. A box within close proximity of the loaded rifle was also retrieved fro evidence.
Hollis was transported to the Fulton County Jail and charged with filing a false report with law enforcement agency, class D felony; aggravated assault, class D felony and endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Bond for Hollis was set at $5,000.
