There will be no shortage of events taking place in the tri-county area in the coming days. Here is a list we’ve compiled to assist you in your planning. The Evening Shade Fire Department will hold a Haunted House Oct 11, 12, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 31 at the Evening Shade Gymnasium each night from 6 p.m. until midnight with extended hours Oct. 31 from 4 p.m. until midnight. Admission is $10 for adults and children 12 and under $5. There will also be pictures with props, pirates skeletons/zombies and a costume contest Halloween night.
Eaglecrest Nursing and Rehab will host a Fall Festival Oct. 18 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Live music, food, games, photo booth and an outdoor movie will be held at 6:30 p.m.
The Glencoe Auxiliary invites the public to attend their annual Trunk or Treat Oct. 19 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.at 101 Quilt Palace Road in Glencoe. The event will feature bounce house, jello eating contest, walking tacos and more.
The Ash Flat Church of God will host Hallelujah Fall Festival Oct. 19 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and will feature candy, games, bounce houses, a chili cook off and more. The event is free to attend. The church his located behind the Sharp County Courthouse.
The Cherokee Village United Methodist Church welcomes the community to attend the Blessing of the Pets event Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon in the main parking lot of the church. Pets are welcome. Dogs must be on leashes and other critters in carriers. Donations of money, pet food and bedding will be accepted to benefit the Cherokee Village Animal Shelter.
The Highland Elks Lodge in Cherokee Village will hold an event for kids Oct. 26 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.which will include food, an indoor maze, candy stations, free hot dogs, chips and drinks and a costume contest with cash prizes.
Crossroads Baptist Church in Ash Flat will hold a Fall Festival Oct. 26 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The Izard County Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Trunktober Fest at Crown Lake Resort and Spa Oct. 26 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Food, bounce houses, horse rides, night time mini golf, live music and more will be featured.
The Stop the Cycle Spay/Neuter Assistance Group will host a “Not Too Spooky Alley” during the Trunk or Treat event Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on the Salem Square.
Cedar Glade Resort will host a Trunk or Treat Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.
First Baptist Church in Cherokee Village will host a Trunk or Treat Oct. 31 from 5:30 p.m. until the candy runs out. The event will feature candy, games, food prizes and more.
The Mt. Pleasant Southern Baptist Church will hold a Trunk or Treat Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The City of Cherokee Village will hold a Trunk or Treat event Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on the parking lot of City Hall. To register to set up a trunk, call 870-257-5522.
The Ash Flat Church of Christ will host a Trunk or Treat Oct. 30 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Candy and hot dogs will be given away.
The Ash Flat Linbrary will host a Trunk or Treat at the Ash Flat Fire Department Oct. 31 beginning at 5 p.m.
The Cherokee Village United Methodist Church will hold a Trunk or Treat Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The Peace Lutheran Church in Cherokee Village will host their annual Christmas Craft Sale Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and again Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. to benefit Rody’s House.
A variety of handcrafted items from quilts, jewelry, crafts, baked goods, candies and more will be available. Entrance to the event is free and Santa will be on site Saturday. There will also be an Elves workshop for children. The church is located at 4 Iroquis Drive in Cherokee Village. For more information call 870-257-3957.
Light in the Wilderness Church will host a Women’s Conference Nov. 2 beginning at 9 a.m. Dors open at 9 with breakfast and a vendors moarket. Speakers include Sandie Mundis, Jennifer Martin, Sarah Jones and DeAnna Jones. The first session begins at 10 a.m. with a luncheon at 12 noon. Session 2 begins at 1 p.m. and the event will draw to a close at 3 p.m.
Righteous Works Tattoos and Piercings will host a free concert and worship service at the Salem Praise and Worship Fellowship Nov. 3 beginning at 9:30 a.m.with coffee and fellowship followed b ya service at 10 a.m. and concert at 6 p.m.
The Salem VFW Auxiliary Post 9777 will hold a pulled port fundraiser Nov. 10 from 12 noon until 3 p.m. at the post home located at 105 Veterans Way located off Hwy 395 North in Salem. The cost is $10 a plate and those who attend are encouraged to bring a veteran and treat them to lunch in honor of Veterans Day. The menu includes Pulled Pork, cole slaw, baked beans and a roll.
