Today is the deadline to register for the Cherokee Village Community Thanksgiving Dinner slated to take place Nov. 24 at the Cherokee Village United Methodist Church in Cherokee Village.
According to volunteer Rob Smith, as of Nov. 17, 483 people had registered for a Thanksgiving day meal.
This year marks the fifth consecutive year for the event and Smith said this year’s menu is in keeping with the tradition.
“We’ll have turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie,” Smith said.
This year, Smith said those attending the event may pick their dinners up to go in drive through fashion, or eat in, however; when reservations are made, be sure to mention your intentions.
“We’re allowing people to eat in on a limited basis, so make sure when you make your reservations to let us know. We’re asking people to call in between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. today. We’re asking for their name, a way to contact them if something comes up, number of meals and if they’re eating with us or driving through because space is limited. We also need to know what time they plan to come,” Smith said.
On Thanksgiving day, the meals will be served between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Smith said he anticipates approximately 500 meals will be served.
Contact the Cherokee Village United Methodist Church at 870-257-3869 to make a reservation or for more information.
