According to the Arkansas Public Service Commission (APSC), changes are coming to the way calls are made in Arkansas.
Effective Jan. 19, the APSC says ten-digit local dialing will be implemented in the part of the state which use the area code 870. Effective Feb. 20, a new area code may be assigned to new numbers.
Currently, it’s projected the region will exhaust available numbers before mid 2025 and in an effort to prepare the commission has approved the addition of a 327 area code.
Those who currently have an 870 area code will keep that code and will not see any changes to their phone numbers.
