A major change in the weather is coming our way in the form of a strong cold front, which will bring a blast of cold air into the state to ring in the New Year. Before that happens, though, quite a bit of rainfall may occur along and ahead of the front – and – there is a risk for severe weather across portions of the state New Year’s Eve thru the wee hours of New Years Day. If you’re going out New Year’s Eve, please be aware of the potential for deteriorating weather conditions.

Also – a bit of wintry weather may affect the area in the wake of the front, mainly late Saturday into Sunday Morning. This will mainly affect portions of northern Arkansas, and at the moment no significant snowfall accumulations are anticipated.

*Inhales* Buckle up Arkansas, a bumpy few days of weather begins today. Scattered storms will be possible Friday thru Saturday, some being strong to severe at times. Heavy rainfall will likely accompany storms, mostly over northern Arkansas, and very cold air follows on Sunday morning.
