Izard County Consolidated School District students in two programs honored 9/11 victims and first responders in a unique way.

Students in our new Emergency Preparedness Program and our Criminal Justice Program participated in a tribute to the victims and first responders who lost their lives in the attack on 9/11.

These students walked 110 flights of stairs (most of them in fire fighter bunker gear) to symbolize the flights of stairs that the fire fighters and other first responders went up in the World Trade Center.

These students were accompanied by Officer Stevenson and Mr. Blankenship who also participated. The Office of Emergency Management Director Gary Dickerson was also in attendance and pictured. This was a very meaningful experience for all involved.
