Control freaks. Have you ever known one? Do you know one now? Are you one? They hate the feeling when they find out they can’t control a situation. It is very difficult to be around one as they struggle to control the words and actions of others. It is an impossible task for human control freaks. Most control freaks live a very sad, miserable life as they continuously fail at controlling others. God never intended for us to have control over others. The world can make up thousands of rules, but they will all be broken. The Ten Commandments– God tells us if we break one, we have broken all of them. God does not want us to sin, but what do we do? We still commit sins.

The only people we have control over is ourselves and even that is extremely limited. Our tongue can be used to worship God at church and cuss out someone in the church parking lot for backing out in front of us. We can fail to hold our tongue that quickly. We try daily to be more like Christ. When I pray, I ask Jesus to make me more like Him today, than I was yesterday. I will never get there while I am still here, but He knows my desire is to be more like Him.

The control freak may pray for God to lift a burden from their lives only to take it back from God the same day and try to do it alone.  We can make all the plans we want in life, but God holds the reins. God is in control, and I am thankful for that. His plan is best no matter what ours is.

Control freaks struggle with trusting God. They have struggles trusting others to do things so they take everything on themselves thinking they are the only human that can do it right. The control freak does not even hold the map, God is in the driver’s seat, and He will take the control freak where they need to go. It is a hard concept to understand and even harder for them to accept.

Those who’ve had their hearts filled to overflowing with God’s love have no desire to dominate or control others, as it will hurt them. Let go, and let God do what he does best: Carry out the plans He has for each individual life. If He needs your help, He will inform you through his Holy Spirit.

Have an awesome week living out God’s plan for your life.
