The 70th Annual Pioneer Day will be held on Saturday, May 1, in Melbourne. The theme for this year is, “Izard County: a great place to hang your hat.” The Pioneer Day 5K Run/Walk Race will begin on Saturday at 7 a.m., with age divisions available for all. The registration form is available HERE.
The main parade line-up will begin at 10:15 a.m. at Truck Country and start at 11 a.m., heading toward the court square. The kiddie parade will begin earlier at 10:15 a.m. There will be concession stands set up around the court square.
The annual kiddie games will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and terrapin races will start at 2 p.m., on the old revenue department lawn. There will also be a baggo tournament, gospel singing, a car show, a burnout contest, and court square singing and dancing.
The annual rodeo will be held at the Izard County Fairgrounds on Lacrosse Road, on Friday, beginning at 8 p.m., and on Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m., with adult tickets being $8, and children get in for $4. This year’s rodeo will feature pro-rodeo clown, Ron “ICE MAN” Hunter. The full schedule is as follows:
