A Williford man faces charges in Sharp County following an incident July 31.
According to the affidavit filed Aug. 5 in Sharp County Circuit Court on July 31, Sharp County deputies observed a vehicle in the area matching a description from a terroristic threatening call.
Sgt. Lane King executed a traffic stop and after speaking with the driver, consent to search was granted.
During the search, a set of digital scales were located under the passenger seat and had white residue on them that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
One of the occupants of the vehicle was 54-year-old John Benjamin Curtis who stated he didn’t know who the scales belonged to.
Curtis was arrested and transported to the Sharp County Jail and during the intake process, Curtis was discovered to have a glass smoking device with residue hidden in his underwear. The pipe fell out of his clothing and was retrieved and bagged for evidence.
As a result, Curtis has been charged with furnishing prohibited articles, a class B felony and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class D felony.
