The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration is receiving a significant number of reports today of an updated scam text that claims to be from the Department. It suggests the Department is trying to get a refund to the individual’s bank account. This is the most recent version of an ongoing fraudulent effort that thousands of Arkansans have reported to the Department.
“The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration will never text you seeking your bank account details,” said Department spokesperson Scott Hardin. “Scammers are continually updating this text and trying new versions to steal Arkansans’ hard-earned money.”
A similar text that circulated throughout Arkansas for the past several months suggested Arkansans owed money for a traffic ticket or toll. It threatened to cancel a vehicle’s registration if the fine was not paid immediately.
