Authorities have released the name of the man killed by a lawnmower in Horseshoe Bend.
According to Izard County Sheriff Charlie Melton, the sheriff’s office received a report around 1 a.m. Monday morning that 73-year-old William Loeb may be in distress.
The caller stated Loeb had borrowed a lawnmower the afternoon prior and had still not returned it.
The caller drove to Loeb’s home and found the yard had remained unmowed and could not find Loeb.
At 7:30 a.m., Loeb’s body was located at the intersection of North Shore Drive and Michigan Avenue in Horseshoe Bend.
Deputies determined the man had been mowing near the intersection, when the mower overturned into a culvert hidden by underbrush.
The mower had landed on top of the man, fatally trapping him beneath it.
