Perfection is truly unattainable. Everyone wants their wedding day to be perfect down to the tiniest detail, but it seldom goes that way. We live in an imperfect world filled with imperfect people. The bible tells us Jesus lived a sinless life. Does that mean He lived a perfect life? 1Peter 2:22 “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” By this Jesus distinguishes Himself apart from all humanity. Tempted in every way but remained sinless.
2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Jesus had to be sinless, blameless and obedient to God in every way. Nothing less would not be the perfect sacrifice for all of mankind’s sin. Jesus gave us a model to live by and no matter how hard we try every day will still fall short. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
This really explains why God is our perfect Father. Our earthly father tried to do his best and for some, he was a great father, but for many children, dads fall way short of being a great dad. Way too much time is spent away from home working for a living. For decades now, moms have spent way too much time at work also as two incomes are needed to raise a family in most cases. As humans we consume more of everything because of wants and desires of the flesh.
It is impossible to be perfect as a believer or non- believer. Yes, this world is imperfect, and we are not to conform to or love the world. “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” – 1 John 2:15-17
Our obedience to the Word of God should be our daily goal. Achievable may be questionable as humans, however we have got to do our absolute best to obey His Word and His commands. The big one is loving Him more than anyone else and then loving everyone else as God loves them too. I know, it is hard to do in real life but that is what God commands us to do, nonnegotiable. It is not up for discussion with me or God. Matthew 22:37-39 37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself.
In closing, love like Jesus does. Try your best to live like Jesus. Make your actions emulate Christ. Build a very close intimate relationship with God and talk to Him multiple times a day. Let your Perfect Heavenly Father be proud to call you His child.
