Every couple’a seconds, somebody in this country needs a pint of blood. Whether it’s for folks
hurt in accidents, folks havin’ surgery, or folks battlin’ cancer, blood donations are downright
essential—and there ain’t nothin’ else that can take its place. Right here in Sharp County,
Arkansas, we’ve got ourselves a golden opportunity to make a real difference at some upcoming
blood drives hosted by the American Red Cross.
The American Red Cross supplies close to 40% of the blood used across this great nation. But
here’s the kicker—only ‘bout 3% of folks who can donate blood actually roll up their sleeves
each year. That’s a cryin’ shame, seein’ as just one donation can save not one, not two, but
three lives. And it don’t even take much of your time—less than an hour.
The Importance of Blood Types
Type O Negative: They call it the universal red cell donor. That means folks with O-negative
blood can help patients of any blood type. This one’s a lifesaver in emergencies.
Type AB Plasma: Now, if you’ve got AB plasma, you’re what they call a universal plasma donor.
Your plasma works for anyone, no matter their blood type.
These types are extra special and important for keepin’ the blood banks stocked up.
Alright, Sharp County, here’s your chance to step up and save some lives. Mark your calendars
