A man faces several charges in Fulton County after multiple vehicles were stolen from a property in Fulton County.
According to the report filed Feb. 10, on Jan 27, a victim reported he had some vehicles stolen from the 400 block of Black Oak road. The victim provided a list of items taken as well as pictures and the vehicles were seen being towed by a white tow truck over the course of a few days.
Investigators with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office spoke with the owner of Rone’s Salvage who had the titles to four of the five vehicles.
The owner stated his businesses traded a running vehicle valued at $3,500 for the other vehicles, which totaled approximately $2,800 in value.
The owner stated 37-year-old Jason Southerland contacted them, stating he owned the property the vehicles were located on and was trying to clean it up. He also stated he had some vehicles to trade.
A witness saw Southerland enter the residence of the property as if he owned it. The titles of the stolen vehicles were located inside the residence.
Southerland claimed he had purchased the vehicles from the deceased owner’s son, which proved to be false.
After taking the vehicles and titles, Southerland sold them to Rone’s Salvage.
As a result, Southerland has been charged with residential burglary, a class B felony; theft of a vehicle, a class D felony and as a habitual offender, having been convicted of one or more felonies but less than four.
Bond for Southerland was set at $25,000.
