Sharp, Izard and Fulton Counties have made the top of the list of the top places to retire in Arkansas.

According to Stacker, a media outlet dedicate to travel, sports, finance and more, when looking to buy or sell a property, the most important element parties look for is location.

Specifically for those 65 and older who are eager to leave the rat race and enjoy more time perusing hobbies and superior quality of life.

Factors such as cost of living, services, health care, weather, crime, recreation and more play a key role in deciding where those golden years will be spent.

Niche is a company who works to compile data and produce ranking lists based on a set scoring system and recently released the top 25 counties in Arkansas which are best for retirement.

Using a grading system, “This grade takes into account key factors, such as weather, crime rates, residents 65 and older, housing costs, and access to amenities such as restaurants, golf courses, exercise facilities, and doctors, in an attempt to measure the appeal of an area for retirement,” the organization’s website states. 

In Arkansas, the top 10 counties in order of ranking are: Baxter, Sharp, Izard, Garland, Cleburne, Prairie, Monroe, Fulton, Van Buren and Dallas Counties.

Nationally, Baxter County ranked 31st, Sharp County 38th, Izard County 46th and Fulton County ranks 118th.
