The application period for the Sharp County Community Foundation Giving Tree grant opens Jan 10 and will remain open until Feb. 15.

According to Dan Milligan, Executive Director for the foundation, non-profits are encouraged to apply, specifically those in Sharp County.

“We invite you to apply for a Giving Tree grant from the Community Foundation to support your nonprofit and the excellent work you do in Sharp County, Milligan said.

This year, grants will be awarded to multiple non-profits and will range from $500 to $3,000.

“Grants are competitive and the larger the grant request, the more discerning the evaluation. Applications will be evaluated based on the impact the grantmaking committee feels will be made in Sharp County,” Milligan said. “If you have not received a grant from the Community Foundation before, consider applying for a smaller grant, the max grant amount will be reserved for exceptional proposals. Priority will be given to nonprofits based in Sharp County. Secondary consideration will be given to nonprofits based outside of Sharp County but provide considerable services in Sharp County.”

Once the window to apply has closed, Milligan said the grant selection committee will review the proposals and notifications of grant award decisions will be sent in March to those who have been awarded a grant.

For newer organizations who have not previously applied, more information is available at  https://www.arcf.org/apply-for-giving-tree-grants/.
