Sharp County Community Foundation, an affiliate of Arkansas Community Foundation, announced $12,500 in Giving Tree Grants for nonprofits in Sharp County. The nonprofit organizations receiving grants were selected for their service to the local area.
“We were able to spend time with each of the grant recipientsand see up close the work they are doing in Sharp County,” said Dan Milligan, executive director of the Sharp County affiliate. “This year was the largest dollar amount provided by Giving Tree Grants in the history of Sharp County Community Foundation. We expect to be able to grant an even larger amount next year.”
“Our Giving Tree program is our flagship grantmaking program. It represents our commitment to and the importance of local decision making to meet local needs,” said Heather Larkin, president and CEO of the Community Foundation. “Funding for our Giving Tree grants comes from individuals and familieswithin our affiliate areas who want to improve their community. These endowments provide a permanent source of funding for local charitable causes.”
One grantee was the Mission of Hope in Hardy. The organization received a grant to help with repairs to their warehouse roof due to the spring storms in the area. Mission of Hope serves over 300 families in the Hardy area by providing food and household items. Other grant recipients include:

• Cave City First Assembly Food Pantry
• Ozark Foothills Literacy Project
• Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas
• Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund
• City of Hardy
Sharp County Community Foundation makes grants through the Giving Tree program annually. The next grant cycle will begin in January 2024.
