It appeares the local economy is on the rise in Sharp County, as much needed tax revenue rolls in.

During the recent Sharp County Quorum Court meeting County Treasurer Wanda Girtman reported sales tax for the month of May was up 47 percent and she believes the month of June will do as well if not better.

Additionally, Recorder/Treasurer Greg Bess with the City if Hardy also reported sales tax revenue was up 47 percent from this time last year.

The sales tax revenue is a direct reflection of more local and tourism dollars rolling in to Spring River country.

The real estate market has also become extremely competitive and it is certainly a sellers market.
