The Arkansas Division of Aeronautics is analyzing a need for an expanded or new commercial service airport in the Northeast Arkansas region. This would be a tremendous benefit for all of Northeast Arkansas.

At this time, two meetings are scheduled and could impact 19 counties in Northeast Arkansas including Sharp, Izard, Fulton, Lawrence, Randolph, Independence and Stone Counties.

The first of two meetings will be held March 20 at 3 at the Black River Technical College in the Pocahontas room and the second is scheduled for April 6 at 2 p.m. at Wynne City Hall.

“Site selection and development programming are not part of this project but could be completed in subsequent phases,” a representative said. The meetings are to determine interest and need.

At the meetings, there will be a short presentation by Blake Roberson, PE Regional Aviation Leader for Garver.
