Romans 12:2      (TLB)
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but be a new and different person with a fresh newness in all you do and think. Then you will learn from your own experience how his ways will really satisfy you.

Well, the New Year has begun and we are into our second day.  It is said that by the end of the first week of the New Year 92% of the resolutions made will be broken or forgotten.  This New Year is a new page, chapter, and book in the events of your life.  God has allowed you to begin this journey called 2025 and we have numerous opportunities.  Some will say that this year will be like all the rest.  That’s a decision that you will make.  You can be satisfied with where and what you are or you can become the person that God wants you to be.  You may have messed up in the past, made great mistakes, fallen, failed, and feel worthless, but be assured of this; as long as you are breathing, God has a plan for you (Jeremiah 29:11).  Now, there are some steps that we can take that will make this year a great year and begin our journey of success.

First, get an attitude adjustment.  That’s right!  If your attitude is one of defeat you will be defeated.   If your attitude is one that you’ve arrived, you got off at the wrong stop.  Sometimes our attitudes keep us from moving forward.  When the disciples discussed who would be the greatest, Jesus told them to get their attitudes in the right place (Mark 9:34).  You can’t always be right and you aren’t always wrong.  Your attitude should be one of learning, giving, growing, and accomplishing.  Let this mind (attitude) be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5)

Second, learn to accept things.   There are some things in life that we cannot change.  Learn to deal with it!  If you have messed up in the past forgive yourself, forgive others and move forward.  You can’t go back and change history, but you can move forward.  Some people are not going to like or accept you no matter what you do.  That’s OK!  Make the best use of your circumstances, use all the resources you have and do your best.  When you accept the problems in life you have the foundation to build something better.  When you learn to accept yourself and understand that all people have shortcomings, abilities, and passion then you are on the road to a great year.  Never accept those things which are morally, ethically, or spiritually wrong.  Use the Word of God as the standard by which you measure all things.  As you learn to accept things in life do so with faith in God, faith in His Word, and faith that you can and will overcome the difficulties you face in this New Year.

The New Year has begun.  Allow God to direct your life and He will fulfill your needs, lead you in right paths, take you beside still waters and walk with you in the darkest valleys.  So, have a very blessed New Year as you trust God and allow Him to lead you in all things.

I have prayed for you this morning.  I pray that this New Year brings God’s greatest blessings to you and that you serve Him to your greatest ability.

Bro. Tom
