If you’ve recently traveled by the Mission of Hope in recent weeks, you may have noticed changes to one of the facilities structures.

The Mission of Hope located on the four lane just west of the Spring River Bridge in Hardy is expanding.

“We have been working hard and have finally restored the building in our lower-level parking lot,” Co-Administrator Holly Melson said. “We’ve got some exciting additions and expansions to announce.”

The Mission of Hope will hold a soft opening for the new Buck$Barn which will house dollar clothing.

“This is an expansion, not a replacement of Hope’s Closet which is our upscale resale shop, and an expansion of services to the community,” Melson said. “Clothing that is still good and has a lot of life left but doesn’t meet the standards for Hope’s Closet will now be available through the Buck$Barn.”

Melson said the new expansion will offer inexpensive but good quality used clothing for $1 an item.

“We now have a four-tier sorting system, and nothing goes to waste. Whether items go to Hope’s Closet, are sent to the free area for victims of house fires or other emergencies, are bailed to be sent to another country to help needy families or now, to the racks of the Buck$Barn, we strive to put items entrusted to us by the community to use,” Melson said.

The soft opening will be held March 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In addition, during the summer months, the Mission of Hope’s Yardsale area, where treasures may be found for as little as twenty-five cents will also be expanding its hours.

The Mission of Hope’s new Buck$Barn and existing yard sale area will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

“We are always looking for ways to serve the community and our hope is that by expanding and offering the new store and extending the yard sale area, it will be easier for people who may not be able to come during the week due to work or other reasons and give them more time and more opportunities. We are excited about the expansion and we welcome the community to come and see what is new or maybe new to them. We also encourage visitors to shop Hope’s Closet, where they can find name brand items. We want to thank the community for the continued support which allows us to help hundreds of families a month, we couldn’t do it without you.”

All proceeds from the sales at the Mission of Hope are used to benefit the community and those who come to the Mission for help.

Hope’s Closet will keep regular hours Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
