According to Scott Hardin, spokesperson from the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, from Jan. 1 through June of this year, patients spent $141 million on medical marijuana purchases to obtain 29,057 pounds with $23.5 million in May and $23.4 million in June.
Hardin said comparing 2023 to 2022, this year’s sales to date surpassed last year’s by $7 million.
“Sales for 2022 reached $276 million and 50,547 pounds, the largest year for sales since the industry launched,” Hardin said. “The state collected approximately $16 million in tax revenue from the medical marijuana industry through the first six months of 2023. Since the first dispensary opened in mid-2019, $105 million in state tax revenue has been collected.”
Suite 443 in Hot Springs and Natural Relief Dispensary in Sherwood sold the largest amount over the last six months with Suite 443 with 3,020 pounds and Natural Relief with 2,85 pounds.
According to the Arkansas Department of Health reports 94,373 active patient cards.
“Since the first dispensary opened for business in 2019, approximately $900 million has been spent on medical marijuana purchases in Arkansas,” Hardin said. “With a sales average of $23.5 million monthly, we should surpass $1 billion in overall sales toward the end of this year. Patients are spending an average of $785,000 a day at the state’s 38 dispensaries.”
