A Mountain Home man is facing the charged of aggravated assault, a class D felony, after authorities received word the man had pulled a firearm and pointed it at the occupants of another vehicle during a road rage incident.
According to a report from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, dispatch received a call regarding an incident involving a maroon SUV and a blue Hyundai car.
When the vehicles reached the city limits of Salem, Salem Police made contact with both vehicles pulling them over to the side of the road.
Due to the threat of a firearm being involved, the officer ordered everyone out of the maroon SUV including 21-year-old Todd Chapman, who was the passenger of the SUV.
When removing Chapman from the vehicle, authorities saw a glass container of alcohol and a green handgun lying on the floorboard.
When speaking with witnesses and victims, authorities were told Chapman had pulled out a handgun with a green laser on it and pointed it at the victims after being “cut off” on the highway.
A 40 Caliber handgun with a green laser was recovered from the passenger side glove box.
As a result, Chapman has been charged with aggravated assault, a class D felony. Bond for Chapman was set at $30,000.
