A new company in Sharp County, 4 Seasons Handyman Service has given one family a Christmas gift to match their wishes.

Sharp County resident Della Staggs said she had reached out to a local non-profit on behalf of herself and her husband.

The request was simple, that the home’s floor be made safe and the risk of falling through the floor be rectified.

She and her husband Larry have been walking on figurative egg shells as part of their home has been collapsing.

According to Staggs, the home has been in disrepair for quite some time, but as a caregiver with a fixed income, the challenge to repair the home has proven too great a task.

“I really appreciated 4 Seasons for helping me. They made it safe to walk in my house now! It was literally rotten from a leak and being on SS (Social Security) we could not afford a contractor and barely the materials needed,” Staggs said.

After a plea for help was posted on social media, Ken Hamilton, owner of 4 Seasons Handyman Service stepped in to answer the call.

“God laid it on my heart to help.” Hamilton said.” God is great and works in many ways.

Hamilton said he and his business partner Felix Froner started the business in August of this year, but both have extensive experience in construction work.

“I have done construction my whole life. I want to set myself apart from other contractors through my work,” Hamilton said.

He said the home is safe for the time being but the need for materials is extensive.

“There’s a lot of rotting and water damage to repair it the right way. The kitchen would need to be gutted and remodeled. The Staggs’ were very appreciative and grateful of me and my partner. I am very happy to give back to someone that needed help wish I could have done more.”

Staggs said she and her husband are grateful for the help. Thanks to the donated time and labor from Hamilton and his crew, she will not fall through the floor, but the work needed is far from over.

“4 Seasons did a great job, but their recommendation is for the whole kitchen floor to be replaced. There is no way possible we can afford it at this time,” Staggs said. “We appreciate feeling safe walking where the floor was falling in. God is an awesome God!”

In addition to repairing the floor, 4 Seasons Handyman Service also created new a countertop surface to prevent the kitchen sink from collapse.

The temporary counter top that was built when 4 Seasons Handyman Service saw the old was dropping the sink and breaking the pipe.

A Go Fund Me has been created to help the Staggs with the additional necessary repairs. You can donate by visiting: https://gofund.me/d0791ccc6.
