The Mission of Hope is holding a one time special fundraiser, selling chances for a Pelican ErgoBoost Seat Kayak.

“We’re selling chances for $5 each and the Kayak is valued at $798. The money we get goes toward a new roof for our facility. Our building is old and we’ve repaired the roof many times, but now we’re in need of a replacement. You can only patch for so long,” said Holly Melson, co- administrator of the Mission of Hope.

Currently, the Mission serves 1,000 people each month, providing food, clothing and other necessities.

“For perspective, Hardy has a population of 743, and the Mission of Hope provides food for up to 1000 people every month. Every little bit donated helps,” Melson said. “The kayak is a Catch 110 Ultra Durable Ram X Premium Kayak with a maximum capacity of 375 pounds.  It weighs approximately 67 pounds and is 10 and a half feet long and has a Pelican Transom compatible with mount for a small motor.”

Melson said the kayak did sustain slight damage, but has since been repaired.

“The kayak is won ‘as is’ and does have a small blemish which has been fully inspected and repaired,” Melson said.

Tickets are available at Mission of Hope, Hardy Insurance, and Jurassik Bark dog grooming.

“If you don’t need a Kayak, consider what friend you might give an amazing gift to,” Melson said. “The Mission of Hope accepts cash or physical donations whenever we are open, electronic donations here.”

The drawing will take place July 30 and the winner will be announced.

The Mission of Hope is located at 3968 US Highway 62/412,  Hardy, AR.

Electronic donations to help with roof repairs can be made at HardyMission.com.
