The family and friends of Charlie Johnson, who is undergoing a chemotherapy and radiation to fight a rare form of cancer are selling raffle tickets for a Savage Arms Axis XP Camouflaged Winchester Mossy Oak, caliber of your choosing to help raise funds to pay Johnson’s medical bills.

Tickets are $5 each or $20 for five and the drawing will be held April 1 at 3 p.m. at Harps in Highland. Tickets may be purchased by calling 870-705-0124.

The family will also be selling tickets in front of Walmart in Ash Flat April 1 from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

According to Lindsey Elizandro, Johnson’s daughter, Johnson is battling a rare form of renal cell carcinoma which has metastasized to his bones.

He’s known for being a wonderful father to me and my 15-year-old brother, a great friend, and football enthusiast. To me, he’s just “dad” – the dad who’s always been the Superman with no known kryptonite. Until now. Cancer has eaten a hole in Superman’s cape at the ripe age of 61 and he needs help,” Elizandro said. “He has started treatment including radiation, immunotherapy and chemotherapy and between the cost of many round-trips back and forth to scans, labs, consultations, treatment and everything else cancer piles into life.. he needs help.”

A go-fund-me has also been set up to help Johnson and his family navigate this difficult time.

It’s hard to reach out and ask for help for the one person I’ve never seen need so much as a helping hand to stand up before. If there’s a chance you can contribute anything to help my family, we would be forever grateful. If you are unable to contribute financially, please know we would sincerely appreciate any prayers, positive thoughts, or texts of hope. Thank you for reading this and thank you for considering us. I fully believe there is hope in even the bleakest of situations. If you’re also struggling, please reach out. None of us have to fight alone,” Elizandro said.
