The Izard County Senior Life Center has been hard at work preparing for the upcoming Luau June 30 beginning at 6 p.m. at the center located at 30 Chapel Hill Road in Brockwell.
Center Director Susan Williams said the menu for the evening has something for everyone.
“The menu is going to be extensive. There will be something for everybody. Pulled pork, fried fish, grilled fish and for the sides we have hush puppies, Cole slaw, rice pilaf, pineapple bake and ambrosia salad. That’s all for just $10,” Williams said.
As the name Luau lends, the them is Hawiian and Williams said she hopes area residents will take the opportunity to unwind, dress up and have fun.
“It is going to be decorated to the hilt, we’ve been working really hard and the volunteers are so creative. We’re going to have a picture area set up with decorations as well,” Williams said. “I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with. I hope they dig in and wear their festive stuff. But if they don’t that’s okay too. We’re just going to have fun.”
Following dinner, Deadwood Groove will perform from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. for those who wish to dance the night away.
“We have more, the night does not stop there (at dinner). We have Deadwood Groove coming to perform and if you’ve not heard them, then you’ve missed out and it’s time to come see them,” Williams said.
Tickets for the dance are $6 a person, dinner is $10 per person, however; attendees can choose to attend one or both events.
