The Izard County Retired Teacher’s Organization met in Melbourne on Monday March 8th, 2021. A program of nutritional information and healthy lifestyles was presented by Elizabeth Daigle, the Izard County Family and Consumer Science Agent, and Judy Eldridge, an instructor in the Extension Get Fit Program.

Mrs. Daigle delivered basic nutritional reminders to the group. Various nutritional topics including portion control, creating healthy salads, sizing up beverages and staying hydrated were discussed. Daigle also discussed making healthy choices for foods and developing an individual personalized nutritional plan ensuring proper amounts of grains, vegetables, fruits, calcium and meat and beans are included in the daily food choices.

Mrs. Judy Eldridge, one of the Calico Rock Extension Get Fit Instructors, delivered valuable information about the Extension Get Fit Program. This program is designed to assist in maintaining a healthy lifestyle as the body ages. Various strength and balance techniques to ensure and maintain good health are stressed in these sessions.
