Izard County 4-H members were invited to attend Quorum Court again this year in honor of National 4-H Month recognition. County Judge Eric Smith signed the 4-H proclamation recognizing 4-H in Izard County at Quorum Court.

October has been set aside on a national level to showcase some of the hard work the 4-H children do across the country. One way our local clubs showcased their citizenship skills was by leading the Pledge of Allegiance at the Quorum Court meeting.

This year a large group of 4-H members attended along with three club leaders; Mr. Isaac Blankenship of ICC Livestock Club, and Kenny and Sue Stapleton of Wideman 4-H Club. Teen members Gracie Walgren-Crider and Tess Savell led the group of 4-H members in the Pledge of Allegiance. These two young teenagers have been wonderful examples of leadership for the younger children in 4-H. 4-H Advisors Michael Paskewitz and Elizabeth Daigle were present on this evening as well.

The 4-H members presented each Justice of the Peace and Judge Smith a small goody bag as a token of thanks for supporting the growing 4-H program and allowing the group to attend a Quorum Court Session. The goody bags contained some special food preservation items that the local 4-H members processed themselves during county workshops. The jams, jellies, and salsa workshops have been well attended this past year, so the 4-Hers wanted to share what they had learned during these workshops with the Quorum Court members.

Izard County is home to eight 4-H Clubs with a total of 131 active 4-H members. Club meetings are held locally for members, and county wide workshops and events are held for all members to participate in.
