According to school officials, the Izard County Consolidated School District was awarded a $50,000 Dollar General Literacy Grant during a surprise visit from Aaron Carlisle (Dollar General Regional Director for Arkansas/Missouri), Tom Lynch (Dollar General District Manager) and Megan Goldwood (Oxford Dollar General Manager).

Mr. Carlisle, Mr. Lynch, and Ms. Goldwood presented the $50,000 check to Superintendent Fred Walker, Principal Billy McBride, and students, Katie Orf, Jude Everett, Megan McBride, and Daniel Haley.

The grant is to be used for literacy programs throughout the district. An appreciative district represntative wrote, “Thank you, Dollar General, for helping us continue to put students first!!!”
