Parts of this used to be taught in school. I’m not sure that people see it at all now, so I thought I’d share this from a book I have that is old enough that the flag illustrations have 48 stars on them, at some point before the 49th state, Alaska, was admitted to the Union early in 1959. The information is, however, timeless, and Independence Day is so close. I save old cookbooks, and this was tucked into a box of them. I love old books…
