The deadline is approaching for area non-profit organizations, to apply for the Twin Lakes Community Foundation Giving Tree grants. The deadline is Saturday, Feb. 15 and applicants in Izard, Fulton, Baxter and Marion Counties will be given priority.
According to Kimberly Jones, executive director for he Twin Lakes Community Foundation, the application process is a simple one.
“The application is very simple. It is online and it doesn’t ask any questions you will spend hours answering,” Jones said. “There is plenty of space for answers and an example for the answers. It is mainly about your organization, what you hope to accomplish and what it will cost to accomplish that.”
Grant amounts awarded range from $500 to $2,000 and requests for all types of grants will be considered.
Although priority is given to organizations within the four county region, Jones said organizations that may not be based in those areas but serve them will also be considered.
“A good example of that is Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry. They’re based in the little rock area but they provide meat sticks to schools all over the area. When they get a grant from us those meat sticks go to the schools in those four counties,” Jones said.
Since its inception, the foundation has awarded over $5.4 million in grants across the territory it serves, helping make a notable impact.
“It is all thanks to our donors, our board working to build up the endowments we have that allow us to do the giving tree grants and donors setting up their endowments and giving to the organizations that are near and dear to them,” Jones said.
To apply, visit arcf.org/givingtree. Any IRS 501-c-3 public charity, public school, government agency or hospital in Fulton, Izard, Baxter or Marion Counties are eligible to apply.
