Following a multi-year hiatus, Eagle Fest is returning to Ash Flat and to its original location, across from the Ash Flat Library at the old city park.
According to Festival Chair, Shaina Manning, the return of the festival and the return to its original location came after effort discussion by the newly formed committee.
“The surrounding communities around us do events and I didn’t want us to miss out on the opportunity so I got with some of the people on the old board and the Mayor [Larry Fowler] and got their blessing and hit the ground running,” Manning said. “It’s not a new location. When Eagle Fest started they started at the old city park across from the library and as it grew they moved it to the ball fields. We want to go back to the basics to start out and take it back to the beginning so we’re holding it at the old city park. There is no admission fee, we just want everyone to come out and have a good time.”
Eagle Fest will take place Sept. 13 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Ash Flat City Park on Arnhart Street and will hold a variety of activities.
“We’re going to start the morning with a car show, registration is $25 and from 10 a.m. until noon. At 11 a.m. we’ll open to the public. We’re going to have bounce houses, snow cone truck, Fred’s Fish House food truck will be there,” Manning said. “The library across the street is doing crafts for the kids and they’re doing handmade ornaments for the Christmas tree they put across the street in the park every year. That afternoon we’re going to have two live bands, starting at 5 the Sugar Loaf Band, the second band Ozark Thunder will start at 8 and the line dancers will perform in between while they’re changing sets.”
