The Cherokee Village Animal Control is over capacity and is asking for the public’s help.
In a social media post Jan. 28 made by the Paw Control of Cherokee Village, due to large numbers of puppies being dumped, the animal control’s shelter facility is full.
“Following the dumping of a litter of 10 five week old puppies with no mother this morning on the North Golf course, two of the Galaxy pups being returned from fostering, another mother and 3 month old puppy brought in, plus other dogs…we cannot accept any more intakes,” the post said. “We are above capacity. There is no room. No available kennels.”
The situation is reaching a critical point and the community’s help is needed for the care of the animals.
Types of aid needed include: Fostering, or best yet, adoption; canned puppy food; bags of dry puppy food; -sheets or thin blankets; construction waste bags and monetary donations to aid with medical care and food costs.
Another need was noted, volunteers to come and spend time socializing the puppies and spending time with the animals housed at animal control.
