If you’re looking for some good music, food and a good cause to support, then the Salem Civic Center is the place to be this Saturday.
According to Tina Cooper, co-organizer, there will be a benefit auction, dinner and concert to benefit two-year-old Matthias DuBois.
“He had some brain damage due to an accident he had. The hyperberick oxygen chamber treatments he needs are not covered by insurance. We’re doing our best to raise some funds and take care of this benefit auction,” Cooper said.
Doors open to the public at 4 p.m. with check in from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. A chilli dinner, auction and concert performed by The Duncans will follow.
“They can come in, have a bowl of chili and get their auction number and then the Duncans will start around 6:30 to 7. We will have a silent auction going on during the concert as well,” Cooper said.
There are many items which will be placed on the auction block, and Tina says it is the perfect way to get a jump start on your Christmas shopping while also supporting a good cause.
“One huge itme we have is a seven night, eight day stay graciously donated by Crown Lake Resort and it’s value is $2,500 and has no experaition date. We’ve had a chainsaw, table saw, gift baskets, air fryer, wall wreaths, hair products, Mary Kay products, several bad boy items, an afghan, a grizzley cooler… I mean we just have hundreds of items that have been donated to help raise money,” Cooper said.
In additon to the event Saturday, Cooper said there is another opportunity to help raise funds.
“We an account set up at FNBC and you can donate at any location, but when you donate you also get a chance at a Christmas dinner. When you put money in the account, take a picture of the deposit slip and text a picture of it with your name to 870-321-1969. When you do, for every dollar you put in the account, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a Christmas dinner. We will do the drawing and announce the winner on December 20th,” Cooper explained.
Cooper said there will also be smaller items on the auction block and you can see pictures of all of the items by visiting her Facebook Page.
