According to new rankings released by the U.S. News and World Report, several area high schools are in the top 100 in Arkansas.

The magazine used six weighted categories to determine rankings for each state as well as national rankings.

Factors included college redness, assessment proficiency and performance, college curriculum breath, undeserved student performance and graduation rates. 

Locally, Salem ranked 51st, Highland 62nd, Rural Special 65, Melbourne at 93rd and Cave City at 99th.

Other area schools include Concord coming in at 20th, Mountain View at 41st, Tuckerman at 42nd.

Above the top 100, Pocahontas ranked 111th, Norfork at 124th, Calico Rock at 134th, Izard County at 151st, Walnut Ridge at 161st, Hoxie at 174th, Mammoth Spring at 176th, Hillcrest at 208th, Sloan Hendrix at 210th and Viola at 220th.
