There are no shortage of Christmas events approaching, the question is, which ones will you attend? Below is a schedule of area parades and events. 

The Salem Chamber of Commerce Christmas Celebration will take place Dec. 3-4 is quickly approaching. Food and coffee trucks will be set up on the court square as part of the festivities. A 5k fun run will kick off Dec. 4 with vendors set up on the square. The Christmas Parade will begin at 5 p.m. and there will also be a Christmas Tree lighting. 

The Ash Flat Christmas Parade will be held Dec. 4 at 4 p.m.Line-up for the parade will begin at 3:45 at the Ash Flat Livestock Auction and the route will roll down Hwy 167 ending at the park on Arnhart Street across from the Ash Flat Library. 

Once at the park, families can enjoy refreshments, pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Clause and the Ash Flat Library will be giving books to children.  

The Horseshoe Bend Chamber of Commerce is hosting Winterfest Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. This year’s theme is Slay Bells and Snow Trails. The line-up for the parade will begin at 9:15 a.m. at the Horseshoe Bend Airport and will keep its traditional route. 

In addition to the parade, there will also be a kiddie train and Santa will be at the Chamber of Commerce office on Third Street following the parade. Clubs, churches, businesses and civic organizations are encouraged to decorate a tree for the Festival of Trees at Cedar Glade Resort. Forms are available at the Chamber office. 

The food drive to benefit area food pantries is ongoing until Dec. 10 and donations may be taken to the Pacesetting Times in Horseshoe Bend. 

Christmas in the Village will take place Dec. 6 at the gazebo at Town Center in Cherokee Village at 5:30 p.m. This year’s event will feature Christmas music performed by the Highland Jazz Band, a special appearance by ole St. Nick and the Arts Center of North Arkansas will be open for those in attendance.

The Cave City Kiwanis Christmas Matters Parade will be held Dec. 11 at 5 p.m., with line-up taking place at 4 p.m. at the Cave City High School. Pictures and cocoa with Santa will take place at the Community Center following the parade. Best Float prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.

Evening Shade Community Events will host an Old Fashioned Christmas Dec. 11 beginning at 3 p.m. with refreshments. Santa will make an appearance at 4 p.m. followed by a tree lighting at 5 p.m. Members of the community are encouraged to add an ornament to the tree at any time and to drop a letter to Santa. Ornaments will also be available on the day of the event. 

A coloring contest for children ages 10 and under is taking place and form letters and coloring sheets may be picked up at City Hall, the Bank of Cave City or your child may write their own letter.

The deadline to return the letter and coloring sheet is Dec. 18.Also, one lucky resident will receive a cash prize for showing off the Christmas spirit with decorations.

No entry is required, members of the Evening Shade Community will be rolling down the streets seeking decorated homes. The winner will be announced Dec. 18.  

 The Hardy Christmas Parade, An Old Fashioned Ozark Christmas, will be held Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. Line-up will begin at 10 a.m. at City Hall. To register, call City Hall at 856-3811. 

The Mammoth Spring Christmas Parade will be held Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. 

The Thayer Christmas Parade will be held Dec. 11 at 2 p.m.
