Two injunctions have been filed against Mammoth Spring residents Dawn and David Campbell after the couple erected a sign on their property on Main Street and displayed suggestive messages on it.
According to the documents filed in Fulton County July 16, the injunctions, filed by Iron Rock Law Firm on behalf of Mammoth Spring Police Chief James Turnbough and Melissa Rogers, the deputy recorder/treasurer and assistant to the mayor for the City of Mammoth Spring, stated the Campbell’s had used their signage to write and display defamatory messages against both Rogers and Turnbough.
On June 18, Rogers began receiving a slew of phone calls and text messages regarding a message displayed on the Campbell’s which read “City Hall let Jamie pimp on my wife in 4/1 open meeting. What’s he ‘Done’ with Melissa?!”.
The injunction filed on behalf of Rogers noted the continued display of defamatory messages has caused substantial disruption to the lives of herself and her family, including her 18-year-old son who also works for the City of Mammoth Spring as a temporary summer employee.
In the injunction filed on behalf of Turnbough, following an incident at the April 1 city council meeting, “the Defendants began a campaign of defamation against Plaintiff, falsely accusing him of various immoral activities including being a pimp and an adulterer.”
On June 18, Turnbough also began to receive multiple phone calls and text messages regarding the suggestively accusatory message posted on the sign.
The injunctions seek damages and to prevent the Campbells from posting any further defamatory messages on their sign.
No court date has yet been set.
