Skywarn Recognition Day

The National Weather Service in Little Rock announced Skywarn Recognition Day, which “will take place Friday and Saturday. HAM radio operators will make radio contact with others throughout the country. We appreciate all our HAM radio operators.”

The local Skywarn connection in Sharp County can be found here. David Wood and his team of skywatchers help to keep everyone in the counties surrounding Cherokee Village apprised of changing weather situations and developing dangers as they arise, but that’s not all. Dave Gruger and searchdog, Radar, provide even further survice to the community in the Search and Rescue arena.

Sharp County Skywarn/SAR works to supoort the community in a variety of ways, including educating youth and volunteers and with a alert to cell phone service. Find out more at their website here. And if you see someone you know who is one of the Sharp Country Skywarn/SAR crew, please remember to thank them for helping to keep us aware and safe during miserabe weather situations. Better yet, use Skywarn Recognition Day as an opening to ask how you can get involved.
