Did you know that the National Weather Service trains people to be storm spotters? Due to COVID-19, there are even virtual training sessions available, but you will have to register at one of the links below.
There are Skywarn groups throughout the country and the Sharp County Skywarn/SAR is located in Cherokee Village, Arkansas. Their Facebook page helps to keep people in Sharp County and surrounding areas aware of storm activity, updates from the National Weather Service, and they also have an alert system in place. | To become a trained storm spotter, you must complete the coursework provided by the NWS. The NWS often works with county emergency managers and officials to plan classes, with numerous classes given each year. Below are the basic and advanced classes on this year’s (2021) schedule.
