E-Communications is proud to announce the annual Country Cares for Kid’s St. Jude Radiothon was able to raise $213,000 for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. While E-Communications hosted this event, community participation is what made it special. Every penny earned during the radiothon will go back to support the hospital and its life-saving research.
Timothy Eckman, Co-Owner and General Manager of E-Communications, said, “It was great to have the community back inside the station this year for the annual radiothon.” Eckman said, “Though we didn’t reach our goal of $250,000, we know the money raised will be put to good use. We want to thank everyone for the support they give us each year.”
The radiothon began Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 6 am and ran on-air until 10 pm that evening. Schools such as Southfork Elementary, Junction Hill, Koshkonong, Mammoth Spring, Thayer, Couch, and many other groups helped add to the radiothon total with fundraisers throughout the past year.
Bob Eckman, President and CEO of E-Communications, commented, “I told before the radiothon of how blessed we were to live in the community that we do, and that statement proved to be correct Wednesday night.” Eckman said, “We just want to extend our deepest gratitude to every group that had a part in contributing to the radiothon, whether that be answering phones, greeting people, or donating money. It was crucial.”
The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for catastrophic pediatric diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion, or a family’s ability to pay.
