The deadline for those filing to serve as one of three commissioners for the Cherokee Village Suburban Improvement District (SID) has been extended to Jan. 29. The commission, which oversees amenities in Cherokee Village, such as the lakes, golf courses and recreational facilities, consists of three commissioners.
An opening was generated on the commission during the December meeting after long time commissioner Ron Patterson submitted a letter of resignation following more than eight years of service. The remaining commissioners, Joe Waggoner and Jim Best along with a selection committee are now tasked with selecting from the pool of candidates to fill the vacancy.
“Ron’s end of term was effective Dec. 31, 2020. His letter was read at the Dec. 21 meeting and at that point, Joe Waggoner announced they would take resumes,” David Webb, manager of the SID said. “We had initially set a deadline for Jan. 18, but have now extended it through the 29th.” The opening, deadline and other details are located on the SID’s website.
As of Jan. 21, three candidates had submitted resumes for the position. “Once the deadline has ended, commissioners will meet with the interview committee to schedule times to meet with the applicants and hopefully announce that decision at the February meeting,” Webb said. Resumes may be mailed to the SID office or dropped off in person at 249 Iroquois Drive in Cherokee Village. For more information visit https://www.cvsid.org/ or call (870) 257-2468.
